What happens if I'm over 18? Isn't Scouting just for young people? The answer is no! Adults can have just as much fun in Scouting as anyone under 18. There are endless opportunties available to adult members, and not all of them involve working with young people directly.
Network is for adults aged 18-25. It is a fantastic way to meet like minded people and get involved in loads of activites. The Beauvale Scout Activity Team provides adventurous activities to our youth membership and offers Network members the chance to try out new challenges and the opportunity to acheive activity authorisations to enable you to safely supervise members of the Scout Association. Equally if you wish to be involved in the administration of the District, and the development of adult retention and recruitment, there are plenty of opportunities available.
Fellowship is for all adults aged over 25. Fellowship groups organise social events, get involved in District events and can often be found at large County/International camps, helping out where they are needed and where they want to be. Again, Fellowship can often be found organising activities for groups of young people, and groups of adults. Being part of a Fellowship is a great way to socialise and meet new friends. All adults can take a leadership position, if they wish (subject to CRB checks). There are many different types of position available in the District, from an Assistant Section Leader (direct contact with young people on a weekly basis), right up to Assistant District Commissioner (minimal/occasional contact with young people, direct contact with a team of adults). You don't need to be available every waking hour to be an adult in Scouting!! Many of our leaders give time where they can, to suit their availability, we are only volunteers after all! If you are interested in finding out more about being an adult Scouter in Beauvale, please contact us, using the links at the top of this page.
